In 2017, female art couple Fleur Pierets & Julian P. Boom started 22, a performance art piece in which they would marry in every country that legalized same-sex marriage. Fleur and Julian got married in New York, Amsterdam, Antwerp and Paris. After the 4th. wedding, Julian was diagnosed with brain cancer. She died on January 22, 2018.

This art performance spoke of evolution and optimism and naming the project 22 in 2017, was a conscious decision. Every country that was added over the course of this project would show that the world is in constant movement. Since 2017, the number of countries has grown to 28.
22 celebrated the places that legalized gay marriage but also highlights the work that still needs to be done. Thereby building a time capsule that instantly referred to the possibility of change, because at the current rate, we will reach global recognition of same-sex marriage in the year 2142. That’s 125 years from now so they wanted to see if they could get it to go a bit faster.

Fleur kept working after Julian’s death. You can find her projects via JF. Pierets
